Overview

University Web and Digital Content serves as the central team responsible for the University’s public web presence at usi.edu. The department sets the strategic direction for the University’s web ecosystem, ensuring a cohesive, user‑centered, and innovative experience that aligns with institutional goals, branding standards and accessibility requirements.

The department adheres to University branding guidelines and establishes universal templates and styles to maintain a consistent visual identity across all University websites. University Web and Digital Content is responsible for the creation, maintenance and governance of these templates within the University’s content management system (CMS).

Digital Accessibility

Digital accessibility is a shared responsibility between University Web and Digital Content and campus content editors and is essential to ensuring equal access to the University’s programs, services, and information. Federal civil rights laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), its Title II regulations governing public institutions, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, require public universities to provide accessible digital content so individuals with disabilities can fully participate in University activities. To support these requirements, the department maintains a public accessibility webpage (www.usi.edu/web/accessibility) that outlines accessibility expectations, clarifies roles and responsibilities, and provides a centralized method for submitting feedback or reporting issues, reinforcing transparency and accountability.

Content Editor Access

Access to the CMS is managed centrally and can be requested by submitting a ticket at services.usi.edu. Content editors must complete required accessibility training modules before access is given. In cases of abandoned, outdated, inappropriate or noncompliant content, University Web and Digital Content reserves the authority to add, modify or remove content from the University website at any time. Web editing privileges may be revoked at the discretion of the Director of University Web and Digital Content due to neglect of duties, failure to follow accessibility or brand standards, publication of inappropriate content or violation of University policy.

Third Party Platforms

Due to compatibility, security, and accessibility considerations, any web application or software intended for use with University websites must be approved by the Director of University Web and Digital Content. Online forms are administered through Qualtrics by the Institutional Analytics Office, and online transactions involving financial information are administered through TouchNet by the Business Office.

Faculty Websites

Faculty Websites are dynamically created based on content in Watermark and linked from directory listings. Faculty members are responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of their content in the Watermark platform. The Watermark platform is administered by the Provost Office.

Data Privacy

University Web and Digital Content maintains the University’s web data collection and privacy statement which outlines how information is collected and used across the University’s public web presence at www.usi.edu/policies/web-privacy.

Social Media

USI encourages the University community to actively engage with USI’s social media presence. Social media guidelines can be found at www.usi.edu/social-media.
