The University has been participating in intercollegiate athletics as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II level since September 1976. The University is a charter member of the Great Lakes Valley Athletics Conference offering competition in both men's and women's sports. GLVC members are Drury University, University of Illinois-Springfield, University of Indianapolis, Lewis University, Lindenwood University, Maryville University, McKendree University, University of Missouri Science and Technology, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Quincy University, Rockhurst University, University of Southern Indiana, Southwest Baptist University, Truman State University, and William Jewell College. The University offers eight men's and nine women's sports at the intercollegiate level.
